OMF – Our Sincere Thanks

As Thanksgiving approaches, I’m reflecting on what I’m most thankful for.

10 years ago I was abruptly introduced to the ME / CFS community by the sudden onset in my 16 year old daughter. After countless doctor appointments, emergency room visits and trips to specialists, we received the life-changing diagnosis. As I have learned, this diagnosis effects everyone in the patients’ life.

My experience set my life on a new journey. Coming from a science background, I was fortunate to understand and had some knowledge of what to push for to help my daughter. For that I am thankful.

Over the past 10 years, many of you have opened your homes and your hearts for me to meet with you and learn from your ME / CFS experience. For that I am thankful.

This journey brought me together with one of the brightest minds of our time, Ronald W. Davis, PhD. Dr. Ron Davis is a compassionate, brilliant and out-of-the-box researcher. For Dr. Davis’ commitment to leading our research, I am eternally thankful.

For each of these reasons and for each and everyone of you, I am thankful.

I am grateful each and every day for the chance to lead OMF in our fight to overcome this horrific disease. I know that the holidays are very difficult for many of you; may this ray of hope that researchers are working on finding answers carry you through this holiday season.

Thank you again for standing with me and OMF in the battle against ME / CFS and chronic, complex diseases during this season of hope and gratitude.

Wishing you a season of compassion, love, friendship and gratitude.
